Mehta Dairies

Mehta Dairies has been at 2557 B in Mangalwar Peth for quite some time now. This area is full of old buildings and narrow streets that get really busy in the mornings when everyone is out getting their daily supplies. We start our day while most people are still sleeping, usually around four or five in the morning. That is when the fresh milk arrives and we have to get everything moved and sorted before the sun comes up properly. The floor is always a bit damp from being washed down, and there is that specific smell of dairy that just sticks to your clothes no matter what you do. Our counter is made of old wood and shows the wear and tear of many years of service. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the routine by heart. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat for a minute while they wait for their order. We don't have any neon signs or fancy advertisements out front. Just the name on the door is enough for people to find us. By mid-afternoon, things finally start to slow down and we can take a breather. We clean up the equipment and make sure the accounts are right for the day. It is repetitive work, sure, but there is something nice about the rhythm of it all. We are just a local business trying to do things right.
