Vibe Cafe

We set up shop here in Kakanad, right in the Thipuneswaram area. Ernakulam district gets really humid, so the cafe is a good place to hide from the sweat. The name is Vibe Cafe, but we aren't trying to be anything too trendy. It’s just a place to hang out. We have some wooden chairs and a few lights that we bought from the local market. The coffee machine stays on from morning until we close late at night. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and we have to wait around, which is annoying, but that’s how things go here. We get a lot of younger people because of all the offices and apartments around Kakanad. They bring their laptops and sit for hours. As long as they're happy, we're happy. We make some sandwiches and small bites too. The kitchen sink leaks a little, so we have to keep a bucket under it, but we’ll fix it eventually. The music we play is just whatever is on the radio or a playlist we like. It’s not a quiet library, people talk loudly and laugh. We like the noise. It makes the day go by faster. We aren't part of a chain. It’s just us running the show every day, making sure there’s enough coffee powder and sugar to go around. It gets a bit chaotic during the monsoon, but we keep the doors open anyway.
