Vidyasagar Institute Of Technical Studies Engineering College is situated out in Damanabhuim, Khurda. It is a bit of a drive from the main city, but that means we have more space and it is a lot quieter out here. The air is a little fresher in Damanabhuim, and we have a good view of the local landscape. The college buildings are spread out, and we spend a good chunk of our day walking between the different departments. Our offices are pretty basic—just desks, computers, and a lot of technical manuals stacked on the shelves. We do not go in for fancy decorations. We are more interested in making sure the labs have the right tools and the students have a place to study. During the breaks, you will see staff and students hanging out near the entrance or grabbing a quick bite to eat. It is a very practical place. We do not have a team of people writing fancy brochures; we just do our jobs and help the students learn their trade. Some of the equipment is old but it works fine, and we take care of it. Khurda is a good place for a college like this because it is away from the distractions of the big city. We are just a regular group of people running a technical school and trying to keep everything in working order for the next class. It is simple, honest work that we do every day.
