HERBS & SPICES RESTAURANT

Our place is right on Nandankanan Road in Chandrasekharpur, directly across from the petrol pump. It’s a convenient spot if you’re filling up your tank and need a bite to eat. We started this restaurant because we liked cooking for people and there was an empty plot here that seemed okay. Every morning, the kitchen gets warm pretty fast as soon as we turn the stoves on. We spend a lot of time grinding the masalas and making sure the rice is just right. It’s not a big corporate operation or anything like that. Just a local kitchen where we handle everything ourselves from cleaning the tables to checking the pantry. Sometimes the traffic outside is a bit much, but once you step inside, it's mostly just the sound of pans hitting the burners. We see a lot of people passing through on their way to the park or coming home from work. Some people stay for an hour, others just grab something quick and leave. We’ve had the same staff for a bit now, so we all know how the others work. We don’t bother with much advertising because word of mouth usually does the trick around here. If the light is on and the door is open, we’re ready to serve whoever walks in. It’s hard work, especially in the summer heat, but it keeps us busy and we like the routine of the day.
