Sun Exporters

Starting at 4, Muthu Nagar wasn't something we planned out with a big map. It just happened because the space was available and we needed a roof. Sun Exporters has been here for a good while now. The street gets a bit dusty in the afternoons when the wind picks up, but we’re used to it. Most days it’s just us moving boxes around and checking the lists twice. Sometimes the truck driver is late, or the tea stall down the road runs out of snacks, and those are the things that actually slow us down. We don’t have fancy desks or a lobby where you wait. It’s mostly just shelves and a few chairs that have seen better days. It gets hot inside during May, so the fan is always clicking. We deal with the export paperwork mostly, which is a lot of reading and stamping. People ask why we stay in this specific spot, but it’s where everyone knows to find us. My cousin used to help out more, but now it’s just a small crew of three or four. We keep the doors open mostly to let some air in. It’s a quiet life if you don’t count the noise from the neighbors. We just try to get the goods out on time and hope the rain doesn’t start when the truck is half-loaded. It can be a real headache.
