We have been at this spot in Veeranampalayam for quite a while now. Most days start pretty early when the gates open at Andankovil West Post area. It’s not a fancy place. There are just a lot of sewing machines and people making sure the stitching is straight. You can hear the hum of the fans going all day because it gets quite hot in this part of Karur. We spend a lot of time looking at different fabrics and checking the thread counts for everything we make at Arctic Apparels. It isn't always perfect. Sometimes the power goes out or a shipment is late, but we just get back to work once things are fixed. The tables are usually covered in scraps and paper patterns. Most of us have been working together for years. We know who likes their tea with extra sugar. We don't really do big meetings or anything like that. Instead, we just talk over the noise of the machines if something needs fixing. It’s a lot of physical work. We spend hours packing boxes and moving rolls of cloth around the floor. We just try to get the orders done and out the door so we can go home to our families. It’s just a normal workplace with normal people trying to do a decent job every day. We are okay with that.
