Somasundaram Fabrics

We are Somasundaram Fabrics, located over at 23/3 in Ramakrishna Puram North. It’s a pretty quiet area most of the time, which we don't mind. We deal with all kinds of fabrics and cloth here. The shop is pretty much full of rolls of material piled up against the walls. Some of it has been sitting there for a while, while other stuff moves out the door as soon as it arrives. We spend a lot of time measuring out lengths of fabric for people who walk in off the street. It gets a bit dusty with all the lint flying around, but that’s just part of the job. My family has been doing this for a long bit now. We aren't some big clothing chain or anything like that. We just sell the material so people can make what they want. Sometimes we have to move heavy bolts of cloth around, which can be a real workout. The lighting isn't the brightest in the back of the store, but we know our inventory. If someone asks for a specific color or pattern, we can usually dig it out from the stacks eventually. It’s a simple setup. We have a small desk where we do the math and take the cash. People from around the North side know where we are. We don’t do much advertising, mostly just word of mouth works for us. It’s a basic business. We open the shutters early and close up when the sun goes down.
