Nalanda Secondary School

Nalanda Secondary School is right near the Mini Bus Stand North in Karur. Specifically, we are on Kamachiyamman Kovil South Street, which is in the western part of the city. Because we are so close to the bus stand, it is never really quiet around here. You can hear the horns and the people shouting all through the school day. The building itself is an older structure that has been part of Karur West for many years. We have students coming in from the surrounding streets, and they usually walk or take the local buses that stop just a short distance away. Inside, the classrooms are simple with wooden benches and old ceiling fans that creak a little bit. We don't have a lot of fancy technology, but we have enough books and teachers to keep the kids busy with their studies. The street outside is narrow, so it gets very congested when school lets out and everyone is trying to leave at the same time. There is a small temple nearby, and sometimes you can hear the bells during our morning assembly. We spend a lot of time keeping track of attendance and making sure the students are following their schedules. It is a very local kind of school where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We just keep things running as best as we can, focusing on the basic lessons and the upcoming exams.
