Shri Amar Nath Rice Mill

Our mill is located over in P.O. Charanthal Kalan. It is a quiet area most of the time, except when the harvest season kicks in and the trucks start lining up. Shri Amar Nath Rice Mill has been a part of this landscape for quite some time now. We have a large yard where we spread things out to dry when the sun is out. The building itself is made of brick and has seen many seasons go by. We have a small room we call the office, but it is mostly just a place to keep the ledger books and a couple of chairs for visitors. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit, but it helps when the afternoon heat gets intense. We don't bother with fancy brochures or websites because everyone around here knows where we are. Dealing with the paddy is a messy business, and our hands are usually rough from the work. We get our news from the people who stop by for a chat while their loads are being weighed. It is a simple way of doing business, based on a handshake and a person’s word. Sometimes we have to stay late into the night to finish a batch, and the only lights are from the mill and the stars. We just do what needs to be done to keep the business moving forward year after year. It's a modest life but we find it quite satisfying.
