Garg Rice Industries

Our facility, Garg Rice Industries, is located at E-42 in the Industrial Area. It’s a standard industrial plot where we do all the processing and packing of rice. The building is basically a large warehouse with some space partitioned off for a small office where we handle the bills and phone calls. Every day, trucks arrive with raw rice, and we have to manage the unloading and then get the machinery started. The sound of the rice moving through the machines is something you hear in your sleep after a while. It’s a dusty environment, no matter how much we try to sweep it up, so we all wear old clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. We aren't a huge corporation, so it’s mostly just a few of us making sure everything runs smoothly and the rice is handled correctly. Sometimes a machine breaks down, and we have to spend half the day fixing it ourselves, which is just part of the job. Lunch is usually eaten together on some of the stacked bags in a corner where it’s a bit quieter. The Industrial Area can be a bit bleak, but it’s practical for what we need to do. We don’t have much in the way of fancy decorations or a nice lobby; we just have the equipment and the space needed to process the rice. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from sunup to sundown, and we’re fine with that.
