Bajrang Bali Rice Mills

We are located out in Karnal, right near the railway station. It’s a loud spot because the trains are always coming and going. You can hear the whistles and the tracks rattling all day long. Being a rice mill, there is always a bit of dust in the air and the smell of grain is everywhere. It’s a heavy smell, especially when the weather is humid. The district of Karnal is known for this kind of work, so we fit right into the landscape. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a functional space near the tracks. We spend a lot of time on our feet, moving between the machines and the loading area. The floor is concrete and it’s seen a lot of wear over the years. We have a small office area where we keep the books, but mostly we are out where the actual work happens. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon and makes it pretty warm, so we keep the big doors open for a breeze. It’s hard work and the days are usually long. We don't have much in the way of decoration around the place. Just some old calendars on the wall and a few chairs for when we need to sit down for a minute. It’s a straightforward way to make a living and we’ve been doing it this way for a while now. It suits us just fine.
