Sagar Chand Prabhu Dayal Rice is right on the Main Road in Naya Bazar. We are at Plot No. 3955/2. Being on the main road means we see everything that happens in the market. It is a busy place with lots of movement. Our shop is mostly filled with different grades of rice in big bags. We spend our time weighing things out and talking to the farmers and the people who come to buy for their own shops. It’s a lot of physical work, moving those heavy bags around. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. We just have a small desk where we keep the accounts and a few chairs for visitors. The dust from the road and the rice can get everywhere, but we don't mind it. It’s part of the job. Naya Bazar is known for this kind of trade, and we’ve been a part of it for many years. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we often share tea in the afternoons. It isn't a high-tech operation. We rely on what we know about the grain and the market prices. We don't use any complicated business talk. We just tell people what we have and what the price is today. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living. We open early and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening.
