R. K. Kalia Rice Mills

Our mill is situated right on the G.T. Road, not too far from the Canara Bank. It’s a convenient spot because the big trucks can pull in and out easily. The road is always busy with traffic, but inside the gates, we are focused on the rice. We’ve got the equipment for cleaning and processing the grain that comes through. Most of the day is spent checking the quality of the rice and making sure the packing line is moving. It’s a noisy place to work, but we like the rhythm of it. Being near the bank makes it easy for us to handle the paperwork and payments that come with running a mill. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just straightforward milling. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, so we spend a lot of time sweeping up. The crew here has been together for a long time, so we know how to handle the machines without much talk. We see a lot of different people coming by, from drivers to local traders. The G.T. Road is a lifeline for us, keeping us connected to the bigger markets. We just keep our heads down and make sure the rice is processed and ready for whenever the next truck arrives to pick up a load. It's a lot of physical labor, but that is just the nature of the business in this area.
