Neel Kanth Rice Mills

Village Sangtapura is where you’ll find Neel Kanth Rice Mills. It’s a small village, so everyone around here knows where the mill is located. We aren’t trying to do anything fancy or special. We just take the rice that the local farmers bring in and process it. It involves a lot of waiting around sometimes, and then a lot of rushing when the harvest is in full swing. The buildings are old but they do the job just fine for us. We have a few big machines that have been with us for a long time. You can hear them from the other side of the village when they are running at full speed. We don't use big words or have complicated meetings. We just talk over tea in the yard while we wait for the next truck. Neel Kanth Rice Mills is a family-type environment, even for the workers who aren't actually related. We’ve lived in Village Sangtapura all our lives, so the mill is just part of the local landscape now. Sometimes the birds get into the storage sheds and we have to spend time chasing them out. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving heavy sacks and checking the quality of the grain by hand. We don't have a glossy office or even a nice chair. The walls are a bit stained from the dust, and the floors are worn down from the boots. It’s a real place where real work happens every single day. We just keep our heads down.
