Mehak Rice Mill

Mehak Rice Mill is located out near Nothrani Village. It is a bit of a quieter spot compared to the mills right in the middle of town, but we still stay plenty busy. The fields come right up to the edge of our property, so we are surrounded by greenery for part of the year and then dry stalks during the harvest. The mill is a simple concrete and steel building. We have a big open area in the front where the tractors pull in to drop off their loads. It is a lot of back-and-forth, moving the grain from the yard into the processing area. We do not have any high-tech systems, just the standard mills and sorters that have been around for years. The guys who work here are mostly from the nearby villages, so we all know each other. We talk about the weather and the crops while we wait for the machines to do their thing. The dust can be a bit much on windy days, but we just deal with it. It is a very practical way to make a living. We do not have a website or any of that, we just rely on the people who have been coming to us for years. Being near Nothrani makes it easy for the local farmers to get their rice to us without a long haul. It is just a regular part of the rural landscape.
