Our place is on Gopal Gaushala Road, which is usually busy with people heading toward the cow shelter. The smell of the gaushala is something you just get used to after a few days of working here. We’ve been milling rice for a long time. It’s a Private Limited company on paper, but on the ground, it’s just a bunch of us trying to keep the machines running and the rice moving out the door. The building is large but it’s getting old, and there’s always something that needs fixing, whether it’s a loose belt or a squeaky gate. We have a routine that we follow every day, starting with checking the moisture in the grain. If the weather is too humid, it makes everything harder. We don't have a lot of office staff, so usually, the same person who checks the grain is the one signing the invoices. We try to be honest with our customers about how long things will take. Sometimes the supply is short, and we have to explain why the prices changed a bit. It’s a straightforward business without any hidden tricks. We spend most of our budget on keeping the mill in good shape rather than on advertising. People know us for being on this road for years, and that seems to be enough to keep us going. It's a tiring job, but it’s steady work.
