Durga Rice Mills

We are located right on G.T. Road and it is a very busy spot to be. Secret Heart Government School is nearby so we have to be careful with the trucks when the kids are coming or going in the mornings. Durga Rice Mills has been here for a while and the building shows its age. The bricks are a bit faded and the gate squeaks every time it opens. Inside it is usually very warm. We have big fans but they mostly just move the warm air around. The smell of raw rice is everywhere and it stays on your clothes even after you go home. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything here. A lot of it is still written down in notebooks. It feels more real that way. Sometimes the traffic on G.T. Road is so bad that the deliveries are late and we have to wait. We just sit on the front steps and watch the cars. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we get our morning cups. The owner knows exactly how we like it. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to tell us how to talk. We just do the work and hope the machines don't break down on us. It's a simple life and the mill keeps us busy from morning until late evening. We just try to get the bags loaded and out.
