About Amba Rice Mills – Food & Beverages in Karnal
The gates at Amba Rice Mills stay open most of the day here on Dahliz Road. It is a straightforward operation. We have the sheds for storage and the main area where the processing happens. It isn't a modern glass building or anything like that. It’s mostly concrete, corrugated metal, and a lot of heavy equipment. You can hear the hum of the motors from quite a distance away. Dahliz Road can get pretty congested, so we have to manage the gate carefully so the trucks don't block everything up. We see a lot of the same faces month after month. The local farmers bring their loads in, and we get to work. It is honest labor, and it is usually pretty tiring by the time evening rolls around. We don’t have much in the way of a reception area, just a small space where we keep the records and handle the paperwork. It gets quite hot in the summer months inside the mill. We drink a lot of tea and try to stay out of the direct sun when we can. There is always something to sweep or a bag that needs moving. We don't do much advertising. People in the area know where Amba Rice Mills is and what we do. It’s just a part of the landscape on this side of town. We keep our heads down and stay busy with the rice.
