Thiraviam Exporters is tucked away in Vadalivilai, which is part of the Panavilai area near Thuckalay. Our address is 5/94, and it is basically a house that we converted into an office and storage space. It is a quiet spot, lots of green trees around us. We spend a lot of time on the phone dealing with customs and shipping agents. Since we are in Thuckalay, getting things to the bigger ports takes a bit of planning and patience. I grew up around here, so most of the people helping me out are neighbors or relatives. We handle different kinds of goods depending on the season and what is available. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow out here, which makes the export paperwork take longer than it should. We do not have a big sign out front or anything. Most days involve checking how the goods look when they arrive from the local farms or workshops. We pack everything right here in the yard. It can get a bit chaotic when the truck arrives to pick up a load for the harbor. My wife usually helps with the bookkeeping in the evenings after the kids are asleep. We are just a small family run operation trying to get local products to people in other places. It is a lot of back and forth with emails. We like being in Panavilai because it is peaceful.
