Umra Leather & Belt

This is our place at House No. 172 in Sujat Ganj. It is more of a home-based setup than any kind of big factory. You can usually smell the leather the very moment you walk through the front door. We make belts mostly, along with some other small leather goods. The house is always full of long strips of leather and boxes of metal buckles. It is a family thing, so there is usually some tea on the stove and kids running around while we are trying to work. Sujat Ganj is a decent place to live and work. We don't have a storefront with big windows or displays. Most people find us because they know someone who bought a belt from us before and liked it. We use old tools that have been around for a long time. They still work just fine, so we don't see any reason to change them. Some days we are just cutting leather all morning, then we spend the whole afternoon punching holes and fixing the buckles. It is repetitive work, but we find it okay. We aren't trying to sell our stuff to big fancy malls. We just make sturdy belts that people can use for years without them falling apart. Sometimes we run out of a certain color of leather and have to wait for the supplier to come by on his bike, which slows things down for us. But that is just how it is when you run a small business from your own house. We just do our best with what we have.
