Leather World Wide

Being located in Khan Market is quite something. It is always crowded and noisy, especially around our spot at 97/122. We call the business Leather World Wide, but really it is just a shop filled with the heavy smell of tanned hides. Talaq Mahal is right there around the corner. We have stacks of leather sitting everywhere, so you really have to watch your step when you walk in. It is dusty work, and sometimes the smell is a bit too strong for people who aren't used to it. We cut things to size and sell to different makers who need the material for their own goods. I started working here when I was much younger, mostly helping my uncle move things around. Now I am the one answering all the questions and checking the stock. We do not have a website or anything modern like that. People just find us by walking through the market and seeing the sign. The air is always thick with the sound of the city and people shouting. We have a small back room where we keep the better quality stuff. Sometimes we have tea with the other shop owners on the block. It is a real community here, and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We do not do big advertisements or anything. If the leather is what they need, people always come back eventually. That is just how it works. My hands stay dirty.
