Rider Tanning Industries

Over at 242 Gajja Purwa in Jajmau, we run our tanning operation. It’s an industrial area, so it’s not exactly a quiet spot. Rider Tanning Industries is where we process hides, which is heavy and messy work. The smell of the tanning pits is something you never really forget once you’ve been here. We have large vats and machines that have seen a lot of use over the years. The floors are usually wet, and everyone wears heavy boots to stay dry. It’s a physical job, and we’re usually pretty tired by the time the sun goes down. We don't have a polished office or a place for meetings. Most of our business happens right on the floor or over a quick conversation in the yard. We deal with raw materials and chemicals all day, so it’s important to be careful with how things are handled. The workers here have been with us for a long time, and we all know our roles. It’s not the kind of job everyone can do, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to be anything other than a working tannery. When a truck comes to pick up a load, things get even busier. It’s just a cycle of preparing, soaking, and drying. We just keep the process moving day after day and make sure the output is ready for the next stage.
