The Unisex Salon

Swaroop Nagar is where we are, specifically at 7/142-D. People in Kanpur know this area well. We call ourselves The Unisex Salon because we do hair for everyone. It’s a busy spot. Most days we just stay open and wait for people to drop by. There is no big story here. We just work. The shop has been at this address for a while now. 208023 is the pin code if you are looking on a map. Sometimes the traffic outside is loud. We see a lot of the same faces every week. It’s nice to know the neighbors. You don’t need anything fancy to get a haircut. We just keep our tools clean and do the job. Kanpur gets really hot in the summer, so we try to keep it cool inside. People come in to escape the sun for a bit. It’s not a giant place, but it works for us. We’ve got the chairs and the mirrors and that’s about it. My brother helps out sometimes when it gets crowded. We don’t really do much advertising. People just see the sign or hear about us from someone else in Swaroop Nagar. It’s a simple life. We start early and finish when the sun goes down. Most of our day is just sweeping up hair and talking to whoever is in the chair. That’s how it goes here at The Unisex Salon. Actually, I think we have been here for nearly five years now, maybe more.
