About Ross Leather Goods – Fashion & Trends in Kanpur
No. 113/93 4th Floor Shree Dhaam Apartment is where we do our business. Ross Leather Goods is basically a few rooms filled with the smell of leather. If you have never been in a leather workshop, the smell is the first thing you notice. It is strong and earthy. We have been in this apartment building for quite some time now. Being on the 4th floor means we have to carry everything up and down, which keeps us fit, I suppose. The Shree Dhaam Apartment is a busy place with a lot of families and other small businesses. We try not to make too much noise, but cutting and hammering leather isn't exactly silent. We have big heavy tables and all kinds of specialized tools hanging on the walls. Most of the day is spent hunched over a piece of hide, making sure the cuts are straight. It’s slow work. We don't rush things because leather isn't very forgiving if you make a mistake. The lighting isn't the best, so we have these extra lamps clamped to the tables. It is a bit cluttered with scraps of leather on the floor, but we clean up every Friday. It’s just a regular workplace in an apartment block, nothing fancy. We just focus on the leather and the orders we have to finish by the end of the week. The neighbors are mostly used to the tapping sounds by now. It gets quite warm in here during the summer months.
