Shipra Beauty Parlour

Shipra Beauty Parlour is found at 233 Z1 in Barra II, Kanpur. Barra is a large residential neighborhood, and we are tucked away in one of the blocks there. The address is simple to find once you are in the area. We have a small sign out front so people don’t walk past it. The parlor is basically one main room where we do everything. We have a couple of chairs for hair and a small partitioned area for other things. It’s not a fancy place. We use regular towels and standard supplies that we buy from the local market. The lighting isn't the best, but we have a big window that lets in some sun during the day. Most of our clients are housewives from the nearby houses. They come in for a chat as much as they do for the beauty work. We know all the local gossip. It’s a friendly environment. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common in Kanpur, so we keep some candles and hand fans ready. We don't have a big staff, usually just one or two of us. We manage the cleaning and the customers ourselves. It’s a lot of work keeping a small business going, but we like being our own bosses. It’s a quiet life here in Barra II.
