We are located at House No 645, right on the G.T Road near Ramadevi Chauraha. It’s an easy enough place to find because the Dusadka Sabji Mandi is just nearby. You can usually smell the fresh vegetables and hear the vendors shouting when you walk by. The building is right in the thick of things. It’s a busy area, so there’s always the sound of trucks and cars passing on the main road. The rooms are basic. We have some wooden benches and a few tables shoved together. Most of the day is spent looking at textbooks and talking through problems. It gets quite crowded in the afternoons. We have to keep the windows closed sometimes just to block out the dust from the street, even if it gets a bit stuffy inside. There’s no big sign or anything flashy, just a regular place where people come to put in their hours. We’ve had to fix the wiring a couple of times because the old fans keep tripping the breakers. It’s just the usual stuff you deal with in an older building in Kanpur. The walk from the bus stop isn't too long, which helps the students who come from further away. We just open up, sweep the floor, and get through the lessons one by one. It’s a simple life, focused on the books and the exams that everyone is worried about. We usually keep some spare pens for the kids who forget theirs.
