Rabika Chinese Saloon

We’ve been here in Govind Nagar for quite some time now, right near the Gurdwera. It’s a busy spot in Kanpur. The shop is just a regular place where people come when they need a haircut or a shave. You’ll see Rabika Chinese Saloon right there on the street. Usually, it’s noisy outside with the traffic, but inside we just focus on the work. My chairs are a bit old but they are comfortable enough for a twenty-minute trim. I remember when we first started, the neighborhood looked a lot different. Now there are more shops around us. We get a lot of regulars who live just around the corner or people walking back from the market. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoons, so we just open the door wide to let the light in. It gets hot in Kanpur, so the fan is always running fast. We don’t have any fancy machines or big signs. It’s just me and a couple of guys working the scissors. We talk about the cricket scores or the local news while we work. Most people come in and just say "the usual" and we know what to do. It’s a simple life here. We open early in the morning and stay until the sun goes down and the street lights come on. If you are looking for us, just ask anyone near the Gurdwera, they know where the shop is.
