Dev Shree Beauty Parlour

If you know Gandhi Gram in Kanpur, you probably know the area around Jamuna Farm. We are tucked away at 77/7, K-4, not too far from there. Dev Shree Beauty Parlour is a small setup, nothing fancy. It’s mostly just us and the regulars who have been coming here for years. The neighborhood is quiet compared to the main city center, which is nice. We started this because there weren't many places nearby for women to just get their eyebrows done or get a quick facial without traveling too far. The room is decorated with a few old posters and some mirrors we’ve had since the start. It smells like talcum powder and hairspray most of the time. When the weather gets hot, the ceiling fan works overtime, and we usually have the radio playing in the background. It’s a cozy spot, maybe a bit cramped when three or four people are waiting, but nobody seems to mind much. We talk about local news, who’s getting married, and how the prices at the market are going up. It feels more like a living room sometimes than a business. We don't have a big sign outside, but people find us anyway by asking around. It’s just a local parlor for the local ladies, keeping things simple and honest every day. We just open up, tidy the chairs, and get to work. It’s how we’ve always done it here in Gandhi Gram and we don't plan on changing much.
