R K Jents Parlour

R K Jents Parlour is tucked away in Barra 6, specifically at H 1/25. It’s a local spot in Kanpur where most people know each other. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I see a lot of friends come in. The shop is simple, with just a couple of chairs and some basic equipment on the shelves. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights. It’s the kind of place where you can just walk in and wait your turn. Usually, there’s a bit of a wait on Sundays because that’s when everyone has a day off. I keep some old newspapers around for people to read while they wait. The scissors have a specific sound that I’ve grown used to over the years. I try to keep the place as clean as I can, but with people coming in and out from the dusty street, it’s a constant job. The water in the spray bottle is always cold, and the shaving cream has that same smell it’s always had. Sometimes we talk about the cricket scores or how the prices of things are going up. It’s just a regular part of the Barra neighborhood. I like the work because it’s steady and I get to see my neighbors every few weeks. It’s not a grand parlor, just a small shop for a haircut.
