Pritam Singh Hunjan & Bros.

This is Amit Agro Farms, run by the Hunjan brothers, Pritam Singh Hunjan & Bros. We are out on Nabipur Road in Harchandapur, part of Kanpur Dehat. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here to Gajner, but this is where the land is. We spend most of our time out in the fields or in the sheds near the road. The dust from the Nabipur Road gets on everything, especially during the harvest season. We deal with a lot of crops and farm equipment every day. My brothers and I have been working this land for a long time. It’s hard work, and your hands never really stay clean. We have a small office area where we keep the records and talk to the buyers, but mostly we are outside. The weather dictates everything we do. If it rains, we change the plan. If it’s too hot, we start earlier in the morning. We don't have a fancy website or a sales team. We just grow what we grow and sell it to the people who need it. Sometimes the tractors break down and we spend the whole afternoon fixing them. It’s just life on a farm in Kanpur Dehat. We know every inch of this road and the people who live along it. It’s a plain, honest way to make a living, and we’re used to the long hours. By the time we finish for the day, the sun is usually long gone.
