Saqib Leathers

Our shop is located right in Pokharpur, over in the Kda Colony area. If you know where Makkah Masjid is, we’re basically right there, which makes it easy for people to find us even if they aren't from this part of town. We work with leather all day. The smell of it is something you just get used to after a week or two. It’s a small place at number 4, and it gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of hides delivered. We spend most of our hours cutting, stitching, and checking the quality of the skins. Some days it’s just us and the machines running. We aren't a big factory or anything like that. It’s just a local setup where we try to do decent work without making a big fuss about it. The neighborhood is usually quite lively, especially around prayer times since the mosque is so close. We’ve been here long enough that most of the other shop owners are like family. We deal with all sorts of leather pieces, mostly stuff that gets sent off to other makers or sold locally. It’s dusty work and your hands get dirty, but it feels good to see a finished piece of leather ready to go. We don't have a big front office or anything, just the workspace where the real work happens. Sometimes we sit outside for a bit when the weather is nice. It is a simple living.
