About Picasso Leather – Fashion & Trends in Kanpur
We are based at 15/288-d Civil Lines. If you walk into our place, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of leather. It’s a strong, earthy scent that gets into everything. We’ve been working with leather for a long time now. The office and the workspace are pretty much the same thing here. We have hides stacked up in the corners and pieces being cut on the big central tables. Civil Lines is a decent area, a bit more space than some other parts of town, which is good because we need the room for all the materials. It isn't a showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a workshop where real work happens. We have stains on our hands from the dyes and we usually have scraps of leather stuck to our shoes. That’s just part of the job. We make all sorts of things, mostly focusing on the leather itself and how it feels. We don't use fancy machines for everything; a lot of it is just done by hand with old tools that have been around as long as we have. We aren't big on marketing or trying to sound like a major corporation. We are just some folks who know how to work with leather and have been doing it from this same spot for years. If the door is open, you can usually hear the sound of cutting and the occasional hammer. It’s noisy but it’s our life.
