Meraj Tanning Industries

We are located at A-1 in Jajmau, right in the heart of the tanning district. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know it’s all about leather. The air has that distinct smell of the tanneries, and there is always water and drums moving around. Our facility has been here for years, and we have seen the industry change quite a bit. We spend our days working with raw hides and turning them into something useful. It’s dirty, heavy work, and it’s not for everyone. But we take pride in knowing how to treat the skins properly so they last a long time. The floors are usually wet and the machines are loud, so we have to shout a bit to be heard. We have a crew of workers who have been doing this their whole lives. They know the feel of the leather just by touching it. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning; we’re usually out on the floor seeing how the batches are coming along. It’s a tough business with a lot of competition, but we just focus on our own yard. We make sure the chemicals are right and the drying process isn't rushed. It’s a slow process that you can't really skip steps on if you want a decent result. We’re just plain folks doing the work that needs doing every single day.
