Rana Leathers

We spend most of our days up here on the second floor of the Jahaz Wali Building. If you know Latouche Road, you know how busy it gets with all the traffic and people moving around down there. Our spot is right above Ballu Motor Walo Ka Makan, which is a bit of a landmark for folks trying to find us. Usually, there is a lot of leather piled up around the room because that is what we do. We handle the pieces, check the quality, and make sure everything is ready for whatever it needs to be used for next. It gets a bit dusty and the smell of the hides is pretty strong if you aren't used to it. Sometimes the stairs feel a bit steep when we are carrying heavy bags up and down all day. The neighbors in the building are mostly other working folks, so it stays pretty loud until the evening. We don’t have fancy furniture or a big lobby. It is just a working space where the tools stay on the tables and the scraps end up on the floor by the end of the shift. Rana Leathers has been at No. 80/88 for a while now and the routine doesn't change much. We start early when the light is good and keep going until the work is finished. It is just us here, doing the daily tasks and trying to keep things organized in a small space.
