We are right on Latouche Road, at number 78/48. If you know this area, you know how packed it gets. There are people everywhere and the noise from the street never really stops. Our shop is full of leather, mostly for shoe soles. You can smell the tanned hides as soon as you step through the door. It’s a heavy, earthy scent that sticks to your clothes. We’ve got stacks of leather piled up high, almost reaching the ceiling in some spots. It’s an old building, so the floors are a bit uneven and the lighting isn't the brightest. We spend our days measuring out pieces and talking to the cobblers and manufacturers who come by. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just deal with people face to face. It’s how it has always been done here. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit near the front door during the monsoon, so we have to move the stock back. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying. My father used to say that leather work is for people who don't mind a bit of sweat. We have a small bench where customers sit while we pull out different grades of leather for them to look at. It's a simple way of doing business, no fuss or complicated systems. Just us, the leather, and the people on Latouche Road trying to get through the day.
