Kukkuk Beauty Parlour

We are tucked away in Khas Bazar on Shivala Road in Kanpur. Being near Mansa Nath Mandir means there is always something happening outside. You can hear the bells and the people walking by all day long. The shop at 38/191 is a small setup, mostly for women in the neighborhood who need a quick bit of threading or hair work. It’s not a very big room, but we’ve made it work for us. We have some curtains up and some mirrors along the wall. The street outside is narrow, so it gets quite crowded, especially during festival times. Most of our clients are people who have been living in Shivala for decades. They come in and tell us about their kids or what they are cooking for dinner. We usually have a kettle going for some tea in the back. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. We don't do anything too complicated, just the usual stuff people ask for. Sometimes the water pressure is a bit low, or we have to wait for the light to come back, but we just keep going. It’s a busy life here in the bazar. We like being part of the community and seeing the same faces every week. It’s just a simple place where we work hard and try to stay organized despite the chaos of the market outside.
