Leather Craft is tucked away in Bhanana Purwa, right near the old Sangeet Talkies on Kalpi Road. If you know the Binda Oil Mil area, you probably passed us many times. It’s a dusty part of town, but it’s where all the real work happens. Inside the shop, the smell of raw hide and polish is everywhere. We’ve got scrap pieces of leather on the floor and tools scattered across the wooden benches. It’s not a showroom where everything is shiny and perfect. We spend our days cutting, stitching, and fixing things that people bring in. Most of what we do comes from neighbors just dropping by with a broken bag strap or wanting a simple belt made. My hands are usually stained from the dark dye we use on the edges. It gets loud with the stitching machines running, but we like the noise. We don’t have a website or any fancy marketing. People find us because their fathers came here, or they saw the sign while waiting for a bus. We don’t rush the work because leather doesn’t like to be rushed. Sometimes a piece takes longer because the needle breaks or the hide has a natural mark we have to work around. It’s just us here, working with our hands every day in this little corner of Kalpi Road. We’ve been at 105/696 for years and haven't found a reason to move yet. The fans hum and the leather piles up, and that is just fine with us.
