Galf Leather Care is located at No. 130 Gajjupurwa in Jajmau. If you know Jajmau, you know it is famous for leather. There is a specific smell in the air here that you never really forget. Our place is right in the middle of it. We deal with leather every single day, so our hands are usually a bit stained. It’s hard work and it can be quite messy, but it’s what we know how to do. The building is older and has seen better days, but it serves our purpose just fine. We have some heavy machines for the leather work and they make a lot of noise. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things lively. Most of the people working here live nearby in Gajjupurwa, so we all know each other’s families. We don’t have any fancy brochures. People know us because we’ve been at this address for a long time. We spend the mornings sorting through hides and the afternoons working on the finishing. It’s a repetitive job, but there is a certain rhythm to it that feels right. When the rain comes, we have to make sure everything stays dry, which can be a bit of a scramble. That’s just a normal part of life here. We just keep our heads down and stay busy with the leather. By the time we leave, our clothes smell like the workshop, but that is just how it is.
