Our place, Eve Leathers, is located at 118 Aa Allied Street. It’s pretty easy to find because we are near the D. T. S. School in Jajmau. You can often hear the school bell ringing when we are working in the back. Jajmau is a place where everyone seems to be doing something with leather, so we fit right in with the rest of the neighborhood. The workshop is usually a bit of a mess with pieces of hide and different tools scattered on the tables. We don’t spend much time cleaning up until the end of the week. It’s a noisy environment because of the machines and the general chatter of the staff. We aren't a corporate office, just a group of people making leather goods. Most of us live within walking distance, so we see each other even when we aren't at work. The street outside can get muddy when it rains, making it hard to move the finished goods. We just use plastic sheets and hope for the best. There is an old dog that hangs around our front door most days. We give him some food when we can. We don’t have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just take the orders as they come and try to get them done. It’s a steady job and we’ve been doing it for quite a while now.
