Sun Leather Company. You can find us at No. 674/39-40 A Kda Colony. We are pretty close to Laxmi Guest House, which is usually how people find their way here if they get lost. The smell of leather is the first thing you notice when you walk through the door. It’s a strong, earthy smell that stays on your clothes even after you go home. We have rolls of hides stacked up against the back wall, all different shades of brown and black. The light in Kda Colony can be a bit dim in the evenings, so we have these big hanging lamps over the workbenches. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have wooden stools that have been here for years and a heavy table where the cutting happens. Sometimes the guest house has visitors who wander over and peek in to see what we are doing. We don’t mind. It’s a bit of a dusty place because of the way we have to treat the materials, but that’s just part of the job. Most days it’s just the sound of the knives and the heavy sewing machines running. We drink a lot of water and try to stay out of the direct sun. The address is a bit of a mouthful, but once you’ve been here once, you remember the way. It’s a practical workspace for practical people.
