New Universal Tannery

We are located at 419/387 in Jajmau. If you know this area, you know it is the heart of the leather work. New Universal Tannery is right in the middle of it all. It’s not a clean or quiet job, but it’s what we do. The air always smells a bit like hides and the chemicals we use. We spend our days on the floor, moving skins around and making sure the tanning process is going right. It’s hard work and our hands usually show it. The building is old and has seen better days, but it’s sturdy and fits the heavy machinery we need. Jajmau is a place where people understand the value of a long day’s labor. We don't have a front office with air conditioning. It’s mostly just the warehouse and the processing area. We focus on the quality of the leather rather than how the office looks. Most of our time is spent checking the vats and ensuring the drying process isn't being ruined by the weather. It’s a gritty environment, but there is a certain rhythm to it that we like. We’ve been at this for a long time at this same address. People who need leather know where to find us. It’s just honest work in a tough industry. We start early and usually finish when the sun is well down. It’s a physical job but someone has to do it.
