Our place is at C-12 on New Jajmau Road. If you know this part of the world at all, you know it smells like leather and salt because of all the tanneries around. We have been operating here for a long time now. The building is industrial and doesn't have any decorations on it. It’s just a place for hard work. We have big vats and machines for processing the hides. It’s heavy work and it gets quite wet and messy on the floor most days. The workers are used to it though. We start our shifts before most people are even awake. There is always a truck coming or going from the main gate. New Jajmau Road is usually narrow and crowded with vehicles, so getting things in and out takes some real patience. We aren't a corporate office with people in suits. We wear boots and aprons. The leather comes in raw and goes out ready for whatever it’s going to become later on. It’s a tough business to be in, but it’s what we know how to do. We don’t have a mission statement or any of that. We just process the skins and try to keep the machinery running without too many breakdowns. The yard is full of pallets and stacks. It’s just a normal day-to-day grind for us here at the tannery.
