Fazal Leather Industries

Fazal Leather Industries is over at No. 177 Chhabilepurwa in the Jajmau area. Jajmau is the heart of the leather trade, so there is always a lot going on around us. Our place is more of a workshop than an office. We have large vats and machines for processing the leather hides. It’s a tough environment and it gets quite loud when everything is running. The smell of the tanning process is very strong, but we’ve grown used to it over the years. We spend our days working with the raw materials and making sure they are treated correctly. It’s physical work that leaves you tired at the end of the day. The building is at number 177, tucked in among many other similar shops. We don't have any air conditioning, just the natural breeze and some big industrial fans. It’s a family business at heart. My father and brothers are often here working alongside the staff. We don't have a website or do any big promotions. People know our name because we’ve been here in Chhabilepurwa for so long. We just focus on the leather and trying to do a decent job every day. Sometimes we sit outside on the benches when the work is slow and just talk to the neighbors. It’s a gritty, real-world business that keeps us busy from dawn to dusk.
