Jajmau is known for its leather, and we are right there on the 150 Ft. Road. Hameed Leather Finishers is where we spend our lives. The road is wide, which is good for the big trucks that come in with the raw hides. Finishing leather is a specific kind of job. It’s about the final look and feel of the skin. We have our machines and our drying racks all set up. The air always smells a bit like chemicals and earth. It’s a tough environment, but we’ve been doing it for years. We aren't a big company with a marketing budget. We just have our workshop and our skills. Sometimes the dust from the buffing machines gets everywhere, so we are always sweeping. It’s a noisy place with the fans running constantly to keep the air moving. You have to be careful where you step because there is always something being moved around. We don't have a receptionist; if you come by, you’ll probably find us on the work floor. The 150 Ft. Road is always bustling, and we are just another part of that scene. We don't make any grand claims about what we do. We just take the leather and finish it as best as we can. It’s a living, and it’s what we know. Most of us have been here long enough that we don't even notice the noise anymore.
