Fazal Leather Industries

Fazal Leather Industries has been at No. 177 in Jajmau for a very long time. If you’ve ever been to Jajmau, you know the smell of leather is part of the air here. Our building is a sturdy, old structure that has seen a lot of work over the decades. It’s not a modern office building. We have big open spaces for handling the hides and a few heavy machines that have been around since my grandfather’s time. They still run well if you know how to treat them. The floors are stained with dyes and the walls are rough. We don't see any reason to change it. It’s a workshop, not a showroom. We spend our days checking the quality of the leather and talking to the local tanneries. It’s a lot of physical work and it can get quite hot and humid inside during the summer. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just focus on the leather itself. People who know the trade know where to find us at No. 177. It’s a family business through and through, and we take it one day at a time. The work is hard and the hours are long, but it’s what we know how to do. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just show up, do the work, and try to keep the business going for the next generation. It’s just a practical part of the Jajmau landscape.
