Murtaza Leathers

Murtaza Leathers is based at 105/199 Chaman Ganj. If you know the neighborhood, you know it’s a tight-knit place with a lot of small businesses squeezed together along the narrow streets. We’ve been working out of this location for a long time, focusing on leather goods. The building is quite old, and the stairs are a bit steep, so you have to be careful when you’re carrying heavy bags up and down to the street. We don't have a fancy sign or a big window display to attract tourists. Most of our customers know exactly where to find us. Inside, it’s mostly just workbenches and scraps of leather everywhere on the floor. It’s not the cleanest place, but that’s because we’re actually making things here every day. We spend our time cutting, sewing, and checking the finish on different items. We don't have a marketing plan or any big goals other than finishing the orders we have for the week. It’s just a few of us working together, and we often have lunch together right there at the main work table. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a big batch for a client, but that’s how it goes when you’re running a small operation. We just want to make sure the stuff we sell is worth the money people pay for it. It’s just leather and thread and hard work. We’re here most days except for the occasional holiday or family event.
