Ayush Leather Craft

Our workshop is at 128 Shyam Nagar. It’s a place that smells like leather and glue most of the time. We’ve been making things here for a while, starting out with just a few hand tools and a couple of sewing machines. Now we have a bit more equipment, but we still do a lot of the work by hand. It’s a messy process, with scraps of hide all over the floor by the end of the day. We aren't a big factory. It’s just a small group of us who know how to cut and stitch. We make various leather goods, mostly just practical items that people need. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which is nice for focusing on the details. We don't have a big storefront with glass windows. People usually just come to the door if they want to see what we are working on. We don't spend money on big ads or anything like that. We just try to make things that last a long time. Some days the machines act up and we have to spend an hour fixing them, but that’s part of the job. We keep the kettle going for tea and just keep working until the orders are finished. It’s a simple life and we’re happy enough with it. We don't try to be anything we aren't, just people who enjoy working with their hands. Most of the folks around Shyam Nagar know who we are.
