Our place is at 7/94 Tilak Nagar. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you aren’t from this part of town, but we’ve been here for a long time. Abdullah Tannery is a family-run kind of business, even if we are a private limited company on paper. We process leather. It’s a messy, wet, and tough job. You’ll usually find us in the back where the vats are, making sure the tanning process is going right. It’s not the kind of work you can do while wearing a clean shirt. We have a small office in the front where we keep the records and meet with people who want to buy our leather. The building is old and shows its age, with patches on the walls and floors that have seen better days. But it serves us well. We don’t go in for any of that modern marketing talk. We just show people the leather we produce, and they can see the quality for themselves. Some days are better than others, especially when the weather is bad and it affects the drying process. We just take it as it comes. It’s a life built on hard work and knowing your craft. Most of our workers have been with us for decades. We’re just a local business doing what we know best and trying to stay out of the way of the city traffic.
