Sarahaniya Natural Farming Producer Company Limited is located over at Ward No 4 in Jhinjhak. You’ll usually find us at Suneeta Devi’s place where we handle the basic chores and the organizing. We are all local people who have a bit of a different idea about how to work the land. Instead of using all those expensive chemicals and sprays you see everywhere now, we are trying to go back to natural ways. It’s more work in some ways, but it feels right for the land we live on. We aren't doing this to be trendy or anything like that. It’s just that the soil was looking tired and we wanted to try something else. We formed this producer company so we could support each other because natural farming can be a bit lonely when everyone else is doing things the fast way. We spend a lot of time talking about composting and how to keep the bugs away without poisoning everything. It’s a lot of trial and error. Our meetings are very informal. We sit around with some tea and discuss what worked and what didn't during the last season. We don't have any big corporate goals or a fancy mission statement. We just want to grow healthy food and make sure our farms stay productive for our kids. It is a slow process but we are sticking with it together as a group.
