Out at Nivil Farm in Sreekandapuram, life revolves around the land and the trees we have at Thumbeni Plantations Private Limited. Our main office is just Building No. Sm-14-98, which is where we keep all the records and try to stay organized. Kaithapram Post is our local point for mail, but mostly we are out among the plants. It is a quiet area, and you can really hear the wind in the leaves most afternoons. Running a plantation is a lot of waiting and a lot of hard work in between. We have to keep a close eye on the soil and how the weather is shifting. Sometimes we get too much rain and the ground gets soft, making it hard to move the equipment around. Other times it is so dry we worry about every little sprout. It is just the way it goes when you work with nature. The farm itself is our pride, even if it looks a bit rugged to someone from the city. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy stories about us. We are just the people who show up every morning, check the irrigation, and make sure the workers have what they need. It’s a basic life, but it’s one that we understand well after all these years of being in Sreekandapuram. We hope to keep this going for a long time, despite the challenges that come our way every season.
